5 ways to add bone broth to your diet + bone broth latte recipe!
So you've heard about the health benefits of bone broth - like the fact that it aids digestion and improves gut health; the collagen which is a godsend for your hair, skin and nails; and the way it helps ease inflammation and improves the health of your joints - but now what? Here are five simple ways you can incorporate bone broth into your daily diet so that you can start enjoying all of its benefits.
1. Make soup
We couldn't talk about bone broth without mentioning the obvious... it makes a real tasty and versatile base for your favorite soup recipes! Bonus: your cold-soothing soup recipe will get a nutritious boost of health benefits by using a bone broth as the base.
2. Use it as a marinade
Bone broth can help add flavor and moisture to meats and fish when added to a marinade. Extra points if you throw in some yummy marrow butter in place of regular butter! You can also use it to cook the meat: our go-to simple baked chicken breast recipe at home involves baking the chicken in a pan along with about an inch of broth.
3. Add to smoothies and juices
Fun fact: bone broth has electrolytes in it and is full of protein so this makes a perfect workout recovery drink. Throw some broth in an ice cube tray, freeze and then use a couple of cubes in your next smoothie. Or add thawed broth to a fresh-pressed veggie juice for a refreshing and healthy treat.
4. Cook rice and pasta and grains in it
Instead of cooking rice, pasta, quinoa and couscous in water, try cooking them in broth instead. Get creative! Bone broth is extremely versatile and can be used to replace water in lots of your favorite recipes.
5. Sip it
Drink it in the morning to set your digestive system up for the day or post-mealtime. Sip it straight up or mix it up to your tastes. We like it with dried herbs sprinkled on top or as a healthy bone broth latte - recipe below!
